East Village // Multi-block public park in the heart of Downtown

East Village Green is an ambitious urban park project under construction downtown, made possible by the City of San Diego. Phase 1 spans approximately 3.6 acres and is located on a 60,000 square-foot block bordered by 13th, 14th, F and G streets, with an additional 20,000 square feet at the northeast corner of 14th and G streets.

On the west block there will be a two-story 14,200 square-foot community center, a game/reading/chill terrace, a large lawn with a performance plaza, and an approximately 8,500 square-foot children’s playground with an interactive water feature. The east block in phase 1 will be focused on the off-leash dog parks for both small and large dogs respectively. Additionally, the project will incorporate pedestrian improvements along the14th Street corridor and a two-level underground parking garage with 185 spaces. There were two historic buildings onsite, which will be relocated and restored within the park.

Construction is ongoing and expected to be completed by early to mid 2025. A second phase of the project is also planned, although specific details and timing remain unclear.
