Little Italy // Early-stage project converting a parking lot steps from the Santa Fe Depot into a new hotel

Investment firm Elevate Investments has filed for a rapid review permit to build an 8-story, 233-room hotel at the border of Downtown and Little Italy, on a current parking lot site managed by ABM[1]. The hotel will have, according to the permit application[2], an unusually low 65 parking spaces (to be located underground), and 1,729 sq ft of retail space among other common use areas for guests like a fitness area and roof deck. Aside from being a compelling product by itself, the 1304 India project has unique promise as a transit-oriented hotel. The project site is located just over a block from the historic Santa Fe Depot, providing guests with easy connections to the Green and UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley, Route 992 to the Airport, Rapid buses, COASTER, and Amtrak. Even being within walking distance[3] of the Airport means this hotel should be very attractive to tourists, and a good addition to the downtown skyline.
